Job Summary:
Plastic Fabricating is seeking a skilled CNC Operator/Machinist to join our team. As a CNC Operator/Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts. Your expertise in operating various machining equipment and interpreting blueprints will contribute to the successful production of high-quality components.
Duties:
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, orthographic drawings, machining parameters, and specifications to determine machining operations.
-Uploading programs by entering instructions, including zero and reference points. Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches.
- Perform basic math calculations to ensure accurate measurements and dimensions
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments as needed
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and implement lean manufacturing principles
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment
Experience:
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Knowledge of CAD software for programming CNC machines is preferred but not required
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Experience with tooling selection and setup
Skills:
- Proficient in operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM), milling machines, lathes, and other CNC equipment
- Strong blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
- Knowledge of CAD software for programming CNC machines is preferred but not required
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Proficient in using hand tools for setup and maintenance of CNC machines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards
